Netflix: The Squid Game Universe has just begun
Squid Game was probably the surprise success of last year par excellence. Within a few weeks, the Korean drama series became the most viewed show at the streaming provider Netflix. Already four weeks after the release, according to Netflix, over 142 million households have seen the series. Because of this success alone, but also due to the plot, a second season is pushing up.
Director Hwang Dong-Hyuk had already announced shortly after the great success, already working on a second and third season. By contrast, the provider Netflix officially noted itself to a continuation. And that is still the case until today. However, the CO CEO of Netflix immediately revealed that it will definitely go on.

The Universe of Squid Game has just started
With these words, several US media (including Deadline) Ted Saran dos, Co-CEO and CCO (Chief Content Officer) of Netflix. So it is to be suspected that at least sometimes a second season will mean — maybe even more. Spin-offs of successful series are known to be no rarity. Also, a remake, which is tailored to the western market, as it has already happened in the past with various films and series with (partially moderate) success would be conceivable.
An official opinion on the part of Netflix continues to be off. The streaming provider wraps in silence regarding a second season, but that can have different reasons — for example, ongoing negotiations with the series creators.
Netflix has hard to fight
In any case, it is hardly imaginable that Netflix does not squeeze the great success Squid Game. The streaming provider is currently struggling with increasing competition in the market and had recently announced a new price increase. This, and behind the expectation, increase from subscription numbers in 2021, made the stock market value of the company recently noticeably scan.
