Xbox games will not be exclusive to the new generation for a while, says Microsoft Studios Director
When a new game system enters the market, the company behind it usually makes every effort to create large exclusive titles. But that does not seem to be the case with the next Xbox Series X.
This does not mean that the system will not receive impressive titles — it will do it — but the leader of Microsoft Game Studios, Matt Booty, noted that the company had a plan with regard to the transition from its Xbox One console,
“While our content comes out in the next year, two years, all our games, a bit like a PC, will play up and down with this family of appliances,” Booty said in a statement. Interview with McVuk. “We want to make sure that if someone invests in Xbox from here to (the exit of the X series), he feels a good investment and that we are determined to offer content.”
This may seem like a questionable strategy for some, especially if Sony has great exclusives PlayStation 5 in store for its holiday launch 2020. But Booty notes that the games that Microsoft has planned will certainly benefit from new equipment.
“Our approach is to choose one or two IP addresses on which we will focus and ensure that they are there at the launch of the console, taking advantage of all the features,” he said. “And for us, it’s going to be halo infinite, which is a great opportunity.”
He added: “This is the first time in more than 15 years that we will have an Helo launch of the title in synchronization with a new console. And this team will certainly do things to enjoy (X Series).”
And while the PS5 will have its exclusives (Booty has congratulated them during the interview), it believes in the strength of franchises and developers of Xbox. “We must make sure that we maintain the high bar in terms of quality, and we publish games that we can be proud of and whose fans can be proud as Xbox exclusives,” he said.
